All your lovely worship to Rowlet could have a high price.

He looks familiar…

Stolas
is a Great Prince of Hell, commands twenty-six legions of demons, and
teaches astronomy and the ‘’knowledge of poisonous plants, herbs’’ and
precious stones.

Oh.

>poisonous plants, herbs

>grass-type

oh boy

Okay, but listen.  This might seem far-fetched, but hear me out.

It’s a fairly popular theory that all of the Grass-type starters have been based on a prehistoric animal of some sort.  Bulbasaur is a mammal-like reptile; Chikorita is a sauropod dinosaur; Treecko and its relatives are reminiscent of raptor dinosaurs; Turtwig’s evolutions resemble ankylosaurs, or the prehistoric turtle Meiolania; Snivy loses its legs as it evolves, paralleling snake evolution; and Chespin is a glyptodont.

Hawaii (the real-world basis of the Alola region, in which Pokemon Sun and Moon take place) was once inhabited by a genus of owls called Grallistrix.  These owls hunted primarily on the ground, and had unusually long legs.  This means that, if the “prehistoric Grass starter” and “circus-themed Alola starters” theories hold true, Rowlet’s final evolution might well be a stilt-legged circus ringmaster owl inspired both by Grallistrix and the demon prince Stolas.

This might seem implausible on its own, but it’s not the only such connection among the Alola starters.  Litten, the Fire-type starter, has the alchemical symbol for brimstone – a well-known element of Hell – on its face.  It wouldn’t surprise me if Litten’s evolutions became more “demonic".

I honestly think that it’s not too improbable that we aren’t just getting circus-themed starters – we’re getting spooky demon circus-themed starters.

(The only odd man out, thus far, is Popplio – but I suppose only time will tell if that holds up.)

I can’t believe this is the first juggalo pokemon generation
